Abstract
The purpose of this research was to study the profile of the elementary science teachers in the city schools of Baguio and to delve into the extent to which they utilize the instructional resources in their teaching. Specifically, it sought to answer the following questions: 1. What is the profile of the elementary science teachers of Baguio with respect to - a) Educational qualifications b) School assignments or positions held c) Length of service d) Civil service eligibility, and e) In-service education -- 2. What is the extent of utilization of instructional resources by the teachers, particularly - a) natural resources, b) human resources, c) institutional resources, and d) material or man-made objects -- 3. What are the problems met by teachers in elementary science teaching? -- 4. What are the implications of this study toward the current educational policies in the country? This study will give a profile of elementary science teachers in the city schools of Baguio and their utilization of instructional resources. The findings will serve as bases for school administrators, school supervisors, science teachers, barangay leaders, and school pupils to work out an effective science teaching-learning process that would meet the learners' need and to attain the objective of a community-based science education.
